The Estate

Established in 2000, The Napa Valley Reserve is a private winegrowing estate and club whose Members share a passion for fine wine and all that it encompasses. The estate offers enthusiasts and their families a serene environment in which to enjoy the gifts of nature and the pleasures associated with owning their own vineyard and winery—but with the confidence and creative prospects that arise from having the property managed and maintained by a globally renowned viticultural team.

The Napa Valley Reserve stands at the intersection of the science and art of agriculture. Its Members may be as involved as they choose in all aspects of the viticultural process. Membership is by invitation only.

Part of an historic rancho dating back to the days before California became a state, The Napa Valley Reserve embraces a way of life inspired by farming and connected—through love and respect for the land—to the ebb and flow of the seasons. This layering of past, present, and future makes The Napa Valley Reserve a singular setting for contemplation, learning, restful reflection, and celebration.
Located in the heart of Napa Valley, The Napa Valley Reserve’s 80 acres are framed on all sides by natural boundaries and over 700 olive trees of different varieties.

Life on the estate, however, centers on the vineyards. Every season has its purpose: pruning in the quiet beauty of winter; flowering and the setting of fruit in the spring; veraison and the thinning of leaves and clusters in the golden days of summer; and, with the approach of autumn’s crisp mornings, the excitement of harvest.

The rows of vines stretch across an intricately diverse alluvial fan whose layers and veins of river rock, sedimentary sand, and alluvium, over the course of millennia, have washed down from the surrounding hillsides and mountains. This impressive underground geometry yields a rich spectrum of wines from which Members, working with the cellar team in the winery, can create individual blends to suit their own tastes and preferences.

Members experience each year through the annual rhythms of the estate—the memories of which they capture in every bottle of their wine.
